First Day!!

WOW!! First day in the Capital was amazing! I woke up, walked to Ambrosia Coffee House and went to the Assembly Chambers and sat in the seats of the Assembly men and women. The Chief Clerk of the Assembly, Bernadette McNulty, was very informative and enthusiastic about her job and what happens in the Assembly Chamber. Lunch was at 12:30 at the Cafeteria (extremely recommended restaurant next to the Capitol). An optional Assembly Session presided at 2:00 regarding several issues (all of which I did not understand due to the fast pace of the members, however very informative and awesome to watch!) The most exciting part of the day (and the topic of my paper/ my career path) was defense regarding Cybersecurity in the Consumer Protection Committee Hearing. Open to the public, there were military men and women, senior officials affiliated with Homeland Security, senior officials with companies working with the California government and advisors working with the FBI and Homeland Security testifying to what they were doing and what they have been doing to protect California against a Cyber attack. I finished the day off with a great dinner at a local Italian restaurant with five of my good friends. Time to study some more and off to bed!
